GarageBand is a cool little program that allows you to make and record music using your computer. The program is also useful for making arrangements of songs, backing tracks, etc. Anyone who has a Mac computer can use GarageBand, but to use it you must have the program installed.
This is a great program for people who are just starting out in music, and it is also useful for anyone who wants to practice playing the piano. The program comes with a huge collection of songs, but it is not difficult to find more. You can download GarageBand songs, sound packs, and other plugins from various websites on the Internet.
Setting Up GarageBand
To start using GarageBand you must first open the program and create an account if you do not already have one. After creating your account, click on File then New Project. This will open a new window where you can choose what type of project you want to make – song or arrangement.
When creating a song or arrangement, keep in mind that there are two different ways to record music. Firstly, you can use digital instruments, such as syncing your PC keyboard to the musical keys in GarageBand’s piano software. These can be a bit tricky to learn, but once you do they will sound great. The second way is to use external instruments that you connect to GarageBand. This method uses your computer’s microphone to record sounds such as piano, guitar, bass, etc.
There are other features, such as loops that can be thought of as song bits that contain different sections that can be repeated indefinitely. GarageBand also allows you to use other sounds from your computer, such as drum machines or synthesizers.
How to Use the GarageBand Piano
The Keyboard Touch Instrument allows you to play keyboards that sound like grand pianos, electric pianos, clavinets, or synthesizers, just by tapping the keys. You can select a keyboard sound, move up or down on the keyboard, edit notes, as well as customize the layout and size of the keyboard. Some keyboards have knobs that allow you to play certain sounds in different ways. You can change the pitch, change the speed, and adjust many other sound parameters.
Alchemy synth sounds, for example, are very flexible. You can set several different controls that you can use to change the sound. You can also use chord strips that are included in most keyboard sounds to play chords, bass notes, and arrange patterns.
Edit Piano Notes in GarageBand
It’s also a good idea to keep track of the piano roll. The Piano Roll is basically a collection of horizontal grid-lines and bars that are placed evenly across the GarageBand interface. These grid-lines and bars are placed evenly across the screen and right next to a musical note that’s played from a piano that’s laid out horizontally across the screen. Each of the grid-lines corresponds to a different note that you play on your keyboard.
What the position of each note shows is the time that it starts to play, the duration of the note, and the pitch it has. You can adjust the pitch of individual notes by moving them, resizing them, and dragging them horizontally to vary the speed at which the note plays.
