Occasionally, there are two situations in which importing an mp3 into GarageBand is difficult:
Situation 1: GarageBand will only import mp3 files whose extension is written in lowercase:.mp3. Try to import some MP3 files, such as the ones that you recorded on your Olympus Ls-10, with the extension in uppercase:.Mp3, GarageBand will not allow you to import those kinds of MP3 audio.
In that case, change the extension of the mp3 file to lower case, in order to import the mp3 into GarageBand.
Situation 2: GarageBand is able to play back mp3 files that have a sample rate of 44.1 kilohertz (kHz) and a bit depth of 16 bits.
In that case, you will need to convert the MP3 files to Garageband’s more compatible AIFF file format.
Try to put it on iTunes first. Take a stick up to one of the apple loops and drag it over there. As long as the tracks are not muted, or that there is not another track set to solo.
It also does that when your project is too full. One thing you might try is to delete some tracks from your project. Then drag that file back into GarageBand, and it should play back blue.
