How to Use GarageBand

To use GarageBand, users first need to download and install the application from the Apple website. After installation is complete, users can launch the application and start creating music.

To create a song, users first need to open the GarageBand window and select the track they want to work on. They can then use the keyboard, synthesizer, drum Machine, and sequencer to create the music. They can also use the sound effects library to add sound effects to their songs.

Once they have finished creating their song, users can export it as a MP3 file. They can also share their songs with others by using the export feature in GarageBand.

GarageBand Does Not Record Keyboard

There are three ways you can record your keyboard on GarageBand. One is to record it through the speakers through a microphone, another is to record through an audio interface through a line output, and the third is to use your keyboard as a MIDI controller and then to record into your Mac.

To use your keyboard to control your MIDI devices, just plug it into your Mac. Check first that your keyboard has an output of usb type b, which is normally under usb (computer). If that is the case, you can use either a USB-B to USB-A cable or a USB-B to USB-C cable depending on which inputs your Mac has.

If you have a keyboard that does not have this, do not worry! You can also connect your keyboard to a MIDI controller by using the 5-pin MIDI output.

If your MIDI keyboard is not working, go into your GarageBand preferences, select audio/MIDI, and then click the button that says “re-set the MIDI driver”.

If you are unable to hear while you are recording in GarageBand, maybe your monitoring button has not been turned on in the smart controls or on the track header. Another reason might be that you haven’t set up your input and output settings properly in GarageBand.

Always make sure that you’ve selected the correct track. All you have to do is go down into the Smart Controls section of the track that you want to monitor, and click on the little monitoring button that looks like an upside-down Wi-Fi symbol. Once you turn on the lamp, the light will become a dark-orange color.
